BRAZILIAN EXPERT IN HAIR DISORDERS DR. LEILA BLOCH, JOINS LEXINGTON AS MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Feb. 14, 2011 - Boca Raton, FL -Lexington International, LLC developer and manufacturer of the HairMax LaserComb ®, is pleased to announce that an expert on hair disorders, Dr. Leila Bloch from São Paulo, Brazil has now become a member of our Medical Advisory Board.


The HairMax is presently the only home use laser phototherapy medical device on the market that has U.S. FDA Class 2 Clearance for marketing for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia in males. The HairMax is also the only device of its kind to publish the results of the clinical study proving safety and efficacy in males in a peer-reviewed journal.

Brazil is one of the fastest growing and emerging markets in the cosmetics and personal care segments. Being the largest market in Latin America and one of the top five cosmetics and personal care markets in the world, Brazil offers a valuable sales opportunity for Lexington’s HairMax LaserComb. According to The Kline Group Latin America, between 2003 and 2008, hair care sales increased at a CAGR of 14.1%, (above industry average of 13.5%), reaching USD 4.4 billion in 2008.   Further, sales growth of hair care products in Brazil are anticipated to experience annual growth of 19% during 2008-2011, according to another independent marketing research report.  

Dr. Bloch graduated from the University of São Paulo Medical School and completed her residency at Hospital dos Clinicos of the University of São Paulo.  She works in a private practice of  dermatology in São Paulo and is a member of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology. She is also a member of the onco-hematology group of Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo where she treats patients with chemotherapy induced hair loss. Additionally, Dr. Bloch conducts clinical research in cosmetics.   Her research articles have been published in national and international journals. She also actively participates in congresses and continuing education courses around the world.

As part of her role as Medical Advisor in Brazil, Lexington will also be seeking expert guidance and advisory assistance from Dr. Bloch on the company’s initiative to ascertain the effects of the HairMax LaserComb on the regrowth of hair lost from chemotherapy treatment. She will also be available for media interviews and professional educational initiatives in her country.
