Dr. Joaquin J. Jimenez is a Research Associate Professor at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. He is a member of the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery.
Dr. Jimenez is recognized as the world’s foremost scientist in the field of chemotherapy-induced alopecia. In fact, he was the first to create a reproducible and translational animal model for this disorder. Dr. Jimenez has made significant contributions in the fields of stem cells, leukemia, endothelial cells and alopecia. His research is of wide scope and translational, with an intense focus on taking projects from the bench to the bedside.
Currently, Dr. Jimenez is focusing his research effort to the fields of alopecia areata, androgenetic alopecia, and chemotherapy-induced alopecia. Dr. Jimenez’s body of work is expansive; he has more than 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations in national and international forums. He has been an active member of the research community at the Miller School of Medicine for over twenty years.
