Lexington Int. is pleased to offer TrichoScience, a Professional Trichological Computer Program for:
Hair Analysis, Hair Counting and Scalp Diagnosis
The first version of the professional diagnostic program Trichoscience® appeared in Russia in 2004. Created by a medical professional, Dr. V. Tkachev, MD, PhD, vice-chairmen of the Trichological Society of the National Alliance of Dermatologists and Cosmetologists of Russian Federation, this program provides the most specific trichological techniques available. Due to the quick progress in the scalp and hair disorders’ diagnostics field, the program currently has got six versions by present time (2009). Trichoscience® exists in two versions, English and Russian. Currently the program is used in Russia, Europe and the USA.
Lexington has evaluated almost all of the hair analysis software systems and feel that TrichoScience is the most comprehensive and accurate. TrichoScience is able to evaluate density, hair mass, anagen/telogen ratio, terminal/vellus ratio and scalp conditions.
The trichological techniques presented in the program Trichoscience®, such as trichometry, structural hair investigation, global photographs and wash test (modified) evaluation, videodermoscopy (trichoscopy), trichogram, follicular units count, are very important and are used in the everyday practice of doctors and trichologists.
Trichoscience® 1.6 has the following options:

- All databases can be saved, edited or deleted. The databases can be reinstalled in case of the program's reinstallation to another computer.
- Hair density count per sq.cm. In the androgen-dependent and androgen-independent scalp areas. Terminal and vellus hairs counting in (%).
- Counting of the peripillar signs in different fields of view (FOV): Pointed hairs, yellow dots, cadaverized hairs and exclamation mark hairs. Visual display of the obtained data (See charts below). If necessary, the counting could be performed in several FOVs to increase accuracy of the results.
- The option of saving the coordinates of the scalp areas to be investigated into the program's memory.

- Hair diameter measurement in the androgen-dependent and androgen-independent areas, calculation of the percentage of thin, thick and middle-diameter hairs, vellus hair percentage. Hair diameter is measured in the microns; standard deviation is also calculated by the program
- The counting is conducted in different scalp areas, the obtained data are compared with the statistical values for each hair type (red hair, black hair, brown hair and blond hair).
- Calculation of the parameters' ration in the androgen-dependent and androgen-independent areas.

The function of automatic adjustment to any optical equipment allows to conduct the measurements in the standard units of measurements (hairs quantity-in sq.cm., hair thickness in microns) irrespective of the magnification level and the optic type.

Phototrichogram in a semi-automatic mode helps to estimate the quantity of daily hair loss.
- Comparison of the hair loss intensity in parietal (androgen-dependent) and occipital (androgen-independent) areas helps to conduct a differential diagnosis between diffuse telogen and androgen-dependent types of hair loss.
- Hair growth stages are assessed in an automatic mode.
- The percentage of anagen and telogen hairs among the terminal and vellus hairs for the differential diagnosis purposes and monitoring of the treatment process and results.
'Calculation of the percentage ratio of the hairs in follicular units' function allows estimating the quantity of the singular, double and triple hair units.
Scalp analysis and comparison of the obtained scalp images iwht the database images.

-
Assessment of the patient's global photos and monitoring of the treament process and results
-
Automatic function to assess the psychological status is available in the 'Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale" section
The function 'Trichometry' (for lost and growing hairs) allows to:
- Conduct the retrospective calculation of the hairs lost within 5, 4, 3, 2 months prior to the visit to a doctor, and to estimate the intensity of hair loss and thinning at the time of the visit.
| |
Hair calculator calculates the patient's total amount of hairs, the daily (per 24 hrs) rate of hair loss and the actual amount of lost hairs (per 24 hrs), as well as the hair growth rate.
- 'Automatic conclusion' function
- Comparison table to estimate the possibility of the diagnosis
-
According to the diagnostics results, any laboratory, diagnostics tests and treatment recommendations can be added from the database by the doctor.
-
All the databases can be formed by the specialist himself
-
The diagnostics results and recommendations can be printed out or saved in the program. The information content of the report to be received by the patient is at the doctor's discretion.
-
The diagnostics program allows a specialist to define the extent and the order of examinations without any 'obligatory' fields or windows to be filled in the program.
